Is a Microsoft Office Certified Professional certificate really worth it?
I heard about the MS Office certificate where it basically says you have mastered MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access. I can get training for it a much lower price than usual. So would the MS Office certified prof cert be worth getting? Can you use it in any profession like IT, accounting, HR or other administrative positions?
Yes. Nearly any profession you could imagine has need of Office Professionals. I work in the petroleum industry, as a field technician. Everything I do requires some form of Office program. Outlook is the lifeline of the company communications. Excel and Powerpoint are part of every day. Powerpoint is used for safety presentations, training, etc., and Excel gets used for everything from creating simple forms to storing complex data and formulas. Plus newsletters, websites, etc. etc. all require Office programs of some sort or another. Get the cert. You won't regret it. It will move your resumé to the top of the pile.
